On 23 October was the matric's last day at school, turning the school into a state of happy chaos! They were rewarded with a well-deserved braai as their final class party. Five days later they sat for their first matric exam. School of Hope would like to thank Phoenix Secondary School in Manenberg, headed by Mr Abrahams, who kindly agreed to host our learners for the exams. In an inspiring visit to our school, he encouraged them to consider the journey ahead and to make the most of the time they have left, the success of which may impact them for years to come. Hosting our matrics is a huge responsibility and additional work for the management of Phoenix Secondary, so we are grateful for their tremendous generous spirit.

Bereavement with Bosom Buddies PDF Print E-mail

Bosom Buddies’ main hospital we service is a high risk hospital.   This means many premature babies, babies up for adoption, unwell mothers, babies born sick and neo-natal deaths.   When we first started the project we were totally unprepared for the high number of stillbirths we experienced.  In the years since we have improved our care of the mothers but never enough.  A tiny little girl called Sophia Grace who went straight to heaven inspired us to improve our care and BBS was born.  BBS stands for Babies Born Sleeping.  The project is headed up by Tracey Brown (left in the picture) who is trained in grief counseling.

Not only are we grateful for volunteers who come to give of their time and talents for a short period of time.  We also thank God for those whom He has added to make a long term contribution to the work that is done at ThembaCare Grabouw. About a year ago Dr.Bielawski joined ThembaCare Grabouw as our first ever full time doctor!  Her involvement with TCG has been invaluable-the ARV clinic has grown in leaps and bounds since her arrival and people now have access to better treatment.

The art auction is happening!   On the 5th of September at 6.00pm we will have some incredible art on display up for auction at Erinvale Golf Clubhouse in Somerset West, Erinvale.  Prices, styles and sizes will range to ensure to cater for everyone’s taste.  There will be cheese and wine to be enjoyed and Bosom Buddies will have an opportunity to share with the guests what we do, our track record, and where we going.  We are trusting the patrons will buy into the vision of what we do… showing love in a practical way, providing hope through caring.   Apart from raising a once off sum, we are trusting for people to commit to sponsoring a bag on a monthly basis.   Every single month… you bless someone and we deliver it on your behalf- amazing!
