On 23 October was the matric's last day at school, turning the school into a state of happy chaos! They were rewarded with a well-deserved braai as their final class party. Five days later they sat for their first matric exam. School of Hope would like to thank Phoenix Secondary School in Manenberg, headed by Mr Abrahams, who kindly agreed to host our learners for the exams. In an inspiring visit to our school, he encouraged them to consider the journey ahead and to make the most of the time they have left, the success of which may impact them for years to come. Hosting our matrics is a huge responsibility and additional work for the management of Phoenix Secondary, so we are grateful for their tremendous generous spirit.
The Grade Tens were also rewarded for almost completing the first year of the FET phase with a dance all of their own. The old-school theme had the teachers sporting 70's afro hair styles and recreating the big-hair look of the 80's. The learners had a fabulous time and danced till late to old school tunes and the latest hits. |
